On Woodside Avenue in Lakeside, Lodge #2698 has built something that most organizations only talk about: a genuinely open door. Rated 4.5 stars across 50 reviews, this lodge earns that score the old-fashioned way, through consistent hospitality and real community investment. The Optimist Club holds its meetings here multiple times a week, raising and donating funds directly to the youth of Lakeside, which tells you everything about the kind of organization that calls this home.

The lodge sits at the crossroads of Santee and Lakeside, two East County communities with a strong sense of local identity and a no-pretense culture. Members here show up for each other at events, fundraisers, and lodge nights, and they bring their families along. That family-forward atmosphere is one of the most consistent things visitors mention when they talk about Elks Lodge 2698.

The Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks has a national legacy of charitable giving, veteran support, and community programs, and Lodge 2698 carries that mission forward at the neighborhood level. If you have never attended an Elks event, this lodge is the kind of place that makes a first visit feel like a return.

"My only experience with this place is The Optimist Club meets there a couple times a week. They are an organization that raises money and donates it to the Youth of Lakeside. They have helped us in the past a few years ago when we needed it to help fund my children to play AYSO and this time we asked for assistance with a DC trip for my 8th grade child. We haven't heard back yet but I'm sure they will grant us something and anything is appreciated. Keep up the good work. Update the Elks Club put on a very nice Christmas event for all the kids you just had to pre-register and they even have Santa there to give your child a specific gift that you specified they would like when you registered. They also gave my daughter a $50 donation for her DC trip. They also had a Candy Land Experience the day after their Christmas party that everyone was invited to and it was low cost."

"everyone there is old fashioned, set in their ways. they use kids to promote, til the kid isn't cute anymore, then they replace with a new kid. There also was a lot of swearing from the kitchen"

The Elks gave America
Flag Day.

Long before it was a national observance, the Order set aside June 14th to honor the flag. Patriotism has always been one of our cardinal principles, and every lodge meeting still closes the same way it has for over a century.
